Press Release

CORESTREET PRESIDENT AVAILABLE TO DISCUSS THE LONG-TERM IMPACT OF APPROACHING FIPS 201 DEADLINE

Cambridge, Mass. — October 11, 2006 — Though deadline day is rapidly approaching for government agencies to issue identification cards that comply with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201), the impact of this mandate reaches far beyond the simple question of card issuance. While October 27 marks the day that agencies must comply, it also marks the day that a full card infrastructure will be in place, opening up new possibilities for broader identity applications.

CoreStreet President is an industry expert, innovator and a widely-recognized specialist in the development of advanced systems that ensure the validity of identity credentials. He is available to discuss HSPD-12, how successful agencies have already put systems in place to combine physical and logical security and what future-looking agencies and organizations are doing to capitalize on this opportunity.

HSPD-12, issued by President George W. Bush in August of 2004, is a government-wide mandate that calls for federal agencies to provide secure and reliable forms of personal identity verification to all employees and contractors.

By October 27, every agency covered by HSPD-12 must begin issuing smart card-based identity credentials. Because this mandate affects tens of million of individuals, HSPD-12 is creating significant demand for companies that supply the infrastructure and applications that these agencies now require.

Libin is working with customers to just this end. He is available to address such issues as:

  • Why organizations should want to take advantage of this new credential infrastructure;
  • What steps federal agencies can take to get the greatest benefit from the FIPS 201 and HSPD-12 mandates;
  • What HSPD-12 means for the physical and logical security markets; and
  • How HSPD-12 will impact the private sector.
