CoreStreet Offers Secure Wireless Email Validation For Blackberry

Real Time Credentials Enable Validation of Wireless S/MIME Email

Cambridge, Mass. (April 5, 2004)

CoreStreet, a leading provider of validation solutions for identity management and access control, today announced that it is offering “Real Time Credentials” for the BlackBerry® wireless platform, developed by Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM). Real Time Credentials are digitally signed proofs that validate and authorize S/MIME email and information being sent from BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™. The validated email solution is now in test phase with the US Department of Defense (DOD).

CoreStreet’s technology is unique because it separates a person’s identity from their permissions using Real Time Credentials— digitally signed proofs—embedded with information for validating and authorizing certain activities and access permissions. Since proofs are extremely small and do not contain critical identity information, they can be safely sent over wireless lines, eliminating the need for a secure connection back to a central authority for every permission request. This drastically decreases the cost while increasing the scalability of the system.

BlackBerry is the leading wireless enterprise platform that allows users to stay connected with secure, wireless access to email, corporate data, phone, Web and organizer features. With BlackBerry, mobile professionals get effortless access to their important information and communications while on the go and IT departments get centralized administration in a secure solution.

Real Time Credentials let us validate information in real time for 10s of millions of users. Something that is impossible with other technologies,” said Phil Libin, president of CoreStreet. “In many instances, each time a person opens up an email the system must answer a basic question: should this person be doing this right now? We enable that to happen without any noticeable change for the end-user.”
