CoreStreet Announces Breakthrough Technology For Certificate Validation Over Low Bandwidth
MiniCRLs Now Available Throughout the CoreStreet Product Line
CAMBRIDGE, MA (August 23, 2004)
CoreStreet, a leading provider of validation solutions for identity management and access control, today announced the immediate availability of its MiniCRL technology in all of its product offerings. Now fully available throughout the CoreStreet product line, MiniCRLs are based on CoreStreet's patented distributed validation technology. They enable the distribution and validation of user credentials in tactical, low bandwidth, network constrained or offline environments.
"CoreStreet made validation history with its Distributed OCSP (D-OCSP) technology by demonstrating that security, scale and speed are not mutually exclusive, allowing implementations of all shapes and sizes to reap the benefits of certificate validation. MiniCRLs continue in this tradition of innovation by making credential validation possible virtually anywhere, specifically environments too network constrained for D-OCSP," said , president of CoreStreet. "MiniCRLs do this by enabling validation over extremely low bandwidth connections, a feature especially well suited for national security applications in tactical environments."
Developed by CoreStreet Chief Scientist Dr. Silvio Micali, MiniCRLs use an innovative process to segment digital certificate information. By doing so, validation can be achieved at a fraction of the size of other options available today. Using MiniCRLs, full validation for a user base of 1 million can be transmitted in under 125 kilobytes. This ability radically increases the number of applications that can utilize validation, especially applications found in low bandwidth or "broadcast only" environments where speed and security are of the utmost importance.
"CoreStreet's product line focuses on providing distributed, flexible validation products," said Phebe Waterfield an analyst with the Yankee Group. "CoreStreet continues breaking ground by introducing a completely new and innovative certificate revocation process that allows validation to go where it could never go before."
MiniCRLs are now available throughout the CoreStreet product line, including the RTC VA, Desktop Validation Client, Server Validation Extension and Responder Appliance 1400, and are designed to run in conjunction with Distributed OCSP environments. Customers with CoreStreet products simply need to turn on this functionality to achieve the benefits. In fact, many earlier product releases also contained MiniCRL functionality. Please contact CoreStreet to confirm the availability in your CoreStreet products. As always, CoreStreet continues to find innovative ways to enable the validation of digital certificates in a scalable, flexible and cost-effective manner.
