Digital certificates have long had the reputation as being the best method for securing electronic identities and the most cumbersome. While they’re often used by companies and government agencies for such transactions as secure email, report signing, vehicle registration or tax payments, they can be revoked or stolen, rendering them ineffective. What’s more, since the certificates often include permissions as part of their DNA, each change in access requires a new certificate, which drives up administrative costs.
Distributed validation changes this by separating authorization from identity, then moving that information to the edge of the network. Because the validation information exists only to authorize a transaction, it is safe to transmit and enables permission changes to happen in real time. Putting this information at the edge keeps costs low by reducing the infrastructure investment and increasing scalability.
The one-hour webcast is open to 50 people and will discuss how distributed validation can:
- Enable a large PKI deployment without compromising performance;
- Establish a common architecture across logical and physical
- security;
- Improve productivity from minutes to milliseconds;
- Reduce infrastructure costs without compromising performance.
